JLA Riders Ready

The 6th Annual JLA Banked Slalom went down this last Saturday March 17th at Mammoth Mountain. An event put on by Signals’ very own Billy Anderson in memory of his brother, Jeff Anderson, the banked slalom is close to our hearts and one that locals often describe as “the only event to look forward to all year.” It is a fundraiser for the JLA Project, which organized and funded the local skatepark in Mammoth and now sponsors snowboarders from the Mammoth community so they can compete and be a part of the snowboard team. It’s one of the few days of the year that brings the entire Mammoth community and family together for one cause- keeping the stoke and future of snowboarding alive in memory of Jeff.

After a week of insane snowfall and powder days, we were graced with a bluebird pow day on race day. After early morning pow laps, the race started around 10:30 am with Billys’ daughter, Jeffrey Anderson, as the forerunner- one of the most special moments of the day. 200 racers over a variety of divisions took two laps and competed to have the best overall combined times of the day. Keep an eye out for next years’ race dates to drop, this is the one day of the year you don’t want to miss!
