In honor of Go Skateboarding Day, we decided to spotlight one of our Signal subscribers and family members, Landon Sorenson. When he isn't taking hot laps in the park at Bear Mountain, he's taking advantage of the year round, sunny Southern California weather and skating every chance he gets. Here's what he had to say!

When did you start skating?

I started skating when I was 4 years old. I learned how to pop an ollie and shuv it the first day I started. I have to thank my older brother, Brett, for blasting Tupac in the garage, teaching me the basics and helping me on the board. I owe it all to him. I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for skateboarding.

Where do you normally skate?

Mostly in the street and at the skatepark. I love finding new parks, but I’m an old school skater and like to skate around in my own way instead of dodging people at parks. My favorite spots are usually some street spots with natural transition, manny pads, gaps or whatever I want to skate at the time.

What is your favorite trick?

My favorite trick is No Comply 360 hard flip 180s. But I also love a steely 3 flip and boneless 180 finger flips off of drops & gaps.

What stokes you out most about skating?

No-one is telling me how to skate. I am free from thoughts other than what I love to do. Skateboarding is more of a meditation for me.

If you could skate with anyone in the world who would it be?

Damn, great question. I can’t choose one. Either Rodney Mullen, Daewon Song or Antwuan Dixon.

What are the best and worst parts about skateboarding for you?

The best parts of skating in my opinion are learning, falling, landing the trick, trying something new and being with your homies. The worst parts of skating for me would be rocks, pebbles, skate blockers, security and scooter kids.
